It all started when Jain monk Tarun Sagar, decided to address the Haryana Assembly in nude. Vishal Dadlani, one of the finest music directors, who was also the member of Aam Aadmi Party then, took to twitter to express the views on the monk addressing the Haryana Assembly.
He used the hashtag #NoKachcheDin along with the tweet which said, “ If you voted for these people, YOU are responsible for this absurd nonsense No #Acchedin, just #NoKaccheDin. Well, he was severely criticised for what he stood up for, the entire debate about the real agenda was trashed out and lost the point, and everything came down to a blatant mockery of religion, Jainism, this time. This is where media becomes a really important tool.
Rather than focusing upon the Jain monk Tarun Sagar, who as an individual is a known misogynist, xenophobic, islamophobic religious leader was called upon to address the Haryana assembly, the media chose to focus the comment made by this music director. While the state was already suffering from the saffronisation of politics and blurring identities of state and religion, this episode also failed to expose the ideation of the Khattar Government!
Vishal should not have commented about the lifestyle of the monk primarily because religious practices always occupy centre stage in any debate of India, but question the invitation to this person is something any rational person can do!
