A debate over caste-based reservation has almost become one of the most inconclusive debates ever! While everyone accepts that it is important to make education and other rights accessible to everyone without any barriers, the reservation policy in its current form is highly problematic solution to ensure to aforementioned goal.
The admissions into higher-education should be purely based on merit as the students are deemed to be the future of any developing nation.
Similarly, while providing reservation in jobs, the government is allowing to the less meritorious students to occupy higher positions in its staff, who makes the functioning of the entire system inefficient. Rather than making the lower caste crippled by providing support through reservation, they should be given proper and free educational and economic help so that they can compete on a leveled field and prosper well in life.
Further, with the way the entire Government system is plagued with mediocrity, incompetence, corruption and inefficiency, it is clear, that since 49% of the seats are getting filled with less meritorious students, the nation is also suffering from inefficiency.
Hence, rather than promoting this kind of inefficiency with the continuation of caste based reservation system, government should come up with alternate solution to balance the needs of socially deprived classes and the efficiency of the system.
