Odd-Even was a scheme implemented by Delhi Government during January and April 2015 in an attempt to alleviate the severe problem of pollution that has been troubling the residents of the capital city since long. Though it was a great initiative, yet it is not a long-term solution to this severe problem. Delhi is a landlocked city and with the ever increasing vehicles on road day by day, the problem is going to worsen in the years to come. Hence, there must at least be some solution to keep the pollution in check.
For making this scheme a success, it is important to better the infrastructure and public transportation. With unavailability of metros and public buses, it is extremely difficult to travel with such schemes. Furthermore, there were too many loopholes in the scheme itself which further hindered the scheme to become a success.
In my opinion, the registration of the vehicles must be kept in check. If the government restricts a maximum of two vehicles for each household, the pollution can be controlled. Also, the pollution caused by industries and unauthorised vehicles should also be kept in check to solve the problem of pollution.
